Day 19 - Recovery

After our string of hard days we decided to take it easy and just do one stage today. The terrain was very easy - mostly jeep tracks and a steep road. Some sections were really sandy but we just got off and pushed these. No one eager to cause problems at this stage of the race - we all just want to finish.
We stopped for coffee with an old lady that lives in this really remote farm all alone - no workers or anybody for company. She was too happy to invite us in for coffee and tell us her life story. Shame, she blushed and got all shy when Andy wanted to take some photos of her.
The bike is running really well and the others are starting to have gear and brake problems. Brownie just keeps on going. We ran out of lube, so I just used cooking oil - haven't had to re lube in 4 days now. I do have half the Karoo hanging off my chain though - I suppose you can't have everything.
We have all got niggling injuries or pains but at this stage we don't really care - myprodol is our drug of choice.
Whoopee - 3 days to go!

The blimp quotes :
"Even though his mission is suicidal, he'll keep plowing forward like the troops who sprinted from their trenches into battle in this area in World War I.

Unlike those German soldiers, Perez will not face the death penalty if he retreats back to the field."

Yeah Andre, you guessed it, as tou head back to civilisation it is time for your daily live Tour de France updates! Hope you finish today and get some sleeeeeep (and a shower) before you head back.
Well done'

Good day Andre, i woke up this morning with with a feeling of well being thinking i dont have to go and start the computer to see where you are in your race When i read all the blogs i can only say you are in good company And i say a silent prayer that each and every one will arrive safely at their homes and love ones Im sure you have a lot to reflect on when you realy start thinking of the race Your team mates family and every one that has rooted for you, You can be proud and so am i , would have loved to see arriving to day but then im sure you would not whant to see your parents performing "a snot and trane" show in public "Jy bly nog maar ons seuntjie" And to each and every one on the race and the support team a safe trip home to your love ones And to Andre see you at home we have such a lot to talk about.
And to all the rest of the team god bless all of you And to Martin good show you have shown records are made to be broken And least but not last to the only lady in the race you are one tough lady Andre has said when your name came up "We are going to get our buds kicked" and you sure did Regards to all. See you in 2008 ride
